Nicola Volpi

Nicola Volpi is a private equity professional with over 30-years’ experience, he was one of the founding partners of Permira, currently one of the world’s leading private equity players with funds under management exceeding 40 billion euros.

Nicola Volpi was one of Italy’s Buy-Out pioneers. In 1987 he managed the first LBOs in Italy as head of leveraged finance at Sanpaolo Finance SpA.

For several years he led Permira’s operations in Italy, serving as CEO and was a member of the executive committee managing the firm worldwide.

Today, Nicola remains involved in the private equity sector via Movidea, an investment holding company he co-founded which aims to invest in unlisted companies with a long-term perspective, based on a growth project shared together with the entrepreneurs in order to provide the professional support needed to make it happen.

His enthusiasm for sports cars and football, as well as appreciation for the personal contributions Nicola can provide to these sectors has encouraged him to invest in and join the Board of Directors of Pagani Automobili SpA and join the Board of Directors of FC Internazionale SpA.

Business

Movidea

A corporate vehicle founded in 2003 in partnership with Emilio Petrone aimed to make private investments in selected unlisted companies. The two partners’ complementary and synergic know-how enables them to provide added value in the invested companies in order to create and implement long-term growth and enhance projects together with the entrepreneurs.

Pagani Automobili

Nicola’s love for sports cars, and above all his close working relationship with Horacio Pagani, have been the driving force behind his investment in Pagani Automobili SpA.

He believes that the chance to share and – to some extent –be involved in the company’s growth and development projects, as well as those of its management, brand, products, business presence and product diversification are an ultimate privilege.

HOBBIES

Nicola Volpi has a wide range of sporting and travel interests that he enjoys sharing with friends. He is also very passionate about music and modern art.

Campo Base

In order to create an “organised container” for the hobbies he shares with his close friends, Nicola founded a club named Campo Base. For over a decade, he has arranged adventure trips in unique locations surrounded by nature across the world together with this small group of travel and sports enthusiasts.

FC Internazionale

Inter Milan has always been one of Nicola’s greatest passions so when in 2014 he was presented with the opportunity to provide an Italian point of view to the new foreign partner who acquired a majority stake in the Club he did not give it a second thought. Joining the Club’s Board of Directors was the inevitable outcome of this opportunity. Nicola initially focused on areas in which he had a well-established expertise which involved assisting the Club’s complex and innovative re-financing operation, carried out together with Goldman Sachs.
